HBRC Day 8 - Hit and Miss

Sometimes books can surprise us in a good way and sometimes they can surprise us in a bad way.  A book you might have been waiting to come out for a year could be a total bomb once you finally get to read it and a book you drag your feet about reading can turn out to be the best book ever. Today let's explore those books. Create a blog post featuring a HIT and a MISS.  Come back and link it using the Simply Linked.

Karin's Books:

HIT

Absolutely fabulous!  I'd been hearing great things about this book before it came out from the people lucky enough to get advanced copies. I didn't know what to expect when I started, but whatever it was I was wrong.  This book blindsided me.  It left me deep in thought and emotionally drained at the end.

MISS

TOTAL LETDOWN!  I loved THE MAZE RUNNER, the first book in the trilogy, and really wanted to like this one.  Unfortunately, each one in the trilogy got worse.  This one was boring and left too many unanswered questions for it to be the end of a trilogy.  Also, I hated the ending.  I thought it was kind of a cop out.  There are people who disagree with me and if you are one of them, please talk about it in the comments of this post.  I'd love to hear what you thought.

Julie's Books:

HIT
I had been seeing this series around the blogosphere for a while. Waterfall was offered as a free download to my Kindle so I decided to get it. But still I put off reading it for a long while. I can't even remember why I finally decided to read it, but once I picked it up it was hard to put down! I fell in love with this series. Check out my reviews:

MISS

I really tried hard with this book. But finally after a fairly graphic sex scene I admitted defeat and closed the book and never finished it.  I have rarely had to do that but this one was definitely not for me.

  1. I really liked this challenge! I also read The Maze Runner, but I haven't finished the trilogy. I hate to hear that the others aren't as good as the first.

  2. I didn't dislike Shiver, it just wasn't one of my favorite books and I haven't rushed out to read the rest of the series.
