HBRC Day 7- Your Favorite Book Character of 2011 in Pictures

For this activity we want you to dig through your memory and come up with your favorite character of the year.  It doesn't have to be a book released this year, but it has to be a character you read about this year. Create a post and come back and link it using the Simply Linked at the bottom of this post.

Julie's Character:

This is not my favorite book of 2011. Although it might make my top 10(you'll have to wait and see!), BUT this is definitely one of my favorite characters of the year.

Alex Rider in Anthony Horowitz' series is one amazing kick-butt kid! I have enjoyed every book in the Alex Rider series. This year brought an end to the series much to my disappointment, but all good things must end I guess. The series started with Stormbreaker:

Years ago there was a movie out based on this book starring Alex Pettyfer. I cannot read any of the books now without envisioning him as Alex Rider!

Isn't he a cutie? Alex Rider is a boy of 14 that is forced unwilling into service for MI6. His family is all dead and his legal guardian is a girl named Jack. He has remarkable talent for getting out of sticky situations. And just like James Bond he gets all kinds of fun gadgets to work with! The series ended with this book:

Alex's most difficult and heart-breaking adventure yet. Alex Pettyfer was the perfect Alex Rider. I wish they would have made other books in the series into movies. Sadly I think Alex Pettyfer is too old to play Alex Rider anymore.

Karin's Character:

This may be a little unorthodox, but I'm doing it anyway.  I've really enjoyed several book characters this year.  There have been several strong female characters and a couple swoon-worthy boys, but the one that probably sticks in my head the most and caused me to laugh out loud the most is........SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT. That's right.  A skeleton.

I've listened to the first three book on audio and thought they were absolutely fantastic.  Have I read book 4 or 5? Nope, because they aren't available through Amazon yet.  I just checked and I can purchase them through independent sellers, but that is a recent change.  Up until recently they weren't being sold in the U.S. I can't wait to read them though!  So, if you know anyone that has them, grab them and send them my way. :)

Skulduggery Pleasant is a detective and works for the magical community.  He pairs up with Stephanie Edgley after her uncle (Skulduggery's good friend) dies and leaves his mansion to her in his will.  She stumbles upon the magical world and soon Skulduggery becomes her ally, protector, and mentor in all things magical. Together they fight evil, but always with an amazing amount of dry, hilarious wit!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the audios!!! Click HERE for the amazon link to listen to a sample.

  2. I really liked this challenge, but it is hard to choose. I almost went with Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo instead.
